Why Wiley?

National Blue Ribbon School 2000-2001
NC School of Excellence

Wake County's magnet schools enhance the North Carolina Standard Course of Study with innovative approaches to learning that maximize student potential. Since 1982, magnets have been opening doors of opportunity and sparking the imagination of students, preparing them to become responsible citizens in a global society.

Wiley's International Studies Magnet Program is designed to develop understanding of major systems (technological, communications and cultural) that influence the condition of our global village.

Wiley gives students an opportunity to individualize their education. Students receive a solid core of instruction in essential subjects and are also offered a wide array of elective opportunities, ranging from philosophy to photography, architecture to computers. Even kindergarteners choose from a variety of elective classes, including any array of five foreign languages: French, Spanish, German, Japanese and Chinese.

Wiley's unique curriculum attracts students from many different countries. We believe these face-to-face experiences with other cultures make global studies come alive. Doors of understanding open wide as students learn about varied cultures, learn to speak different languages and learn to use technologies important in our global society.
